Hiking
The German-Belgian nature park "Hoge Venen-Eifel" is the valhalla for hikers due to the overwhelming nature, the versatile routes and the unprecedented tranquility.
In the middle of the natural park lies the nature reserve "Hoge Venen", a striking high plateau with peat and peatlands, unique in Europe. Hikers can explore this plateau via wooden deck paths. The picturesque Ourdal is also captivated by its pristineness and wide landscapes. We are happy to help you on your way with leaflets, map material and with our own routes.
From Schönberg there are 4 signposted Nordic walking routes, ranging in length from 5 to 13 km.
Nordic walking sticks are lent free of charge.
Motorsport
A virtually endless network of quiet secondary roads with sharp, long and hairpin bends inspires both beginners and advanced motorcyclists. Our holiday home is the ideal base for numerous attractive motorcycle routes through the Eifel, the Ardennes and Luxembourg. Not to mention: the bend labyrinth of the Nürburgring. There is a lockable motor parking at the gîte and a drying room for helmets and clothing.
Trail run
Trail running = mountain biking without a bike!
Trail running stands for 'off-road running': running through nature, running along narrow paths and conquering natural obstacles such as hills, rocks and streams. More and more runners are looking for these challenges. Close to nature, to experience the peace and quiet and enjoy the surroundings. For 3 years a Trailrun has been organized in Schönberg in June. As a training area, it is ideal because of the many height differences and the swinging single tracks.
Orientation
Orientating is a scandinavian sport that is also widely practiced in our hilly, wooded area. The sport combines good map reading and compass use with physical exertion and endurance. The runners take a route as quickly as possible, in a mandatory order along various checkpoints.
For experienced orienteers we have orientation maps. For those who want to browse this sport, we have set out an orientation tour where you search the checkpoints using photos, map and compass.
